(Solved) New A7RM2: "Photographic camera Fault. Plow ability off and on.": on/off aught, had to remove bombardment

Edit: This mistake is due to IBIS malfunction. Since my camera is make new and hasn't been used much, I estimate this tin can but happen. Even after reseting, information technology happen once more. Merely hasn't happen again. So non sure what crusade it for my case.

=================================

The screen stays on with the message as I turn ability off/on repeatedly. So I took the battery out.

After re-inserting the bombardment, I went to bill of fare to reset the camera, it then show the yellow/orange color bombardment totally empty icon. Change to a fully charged battery, everything seems fine.

I thought the error must be due to an empty battery. But it'southward showing this error when I shoot multiple shots in high speed bulldoze mode with a fresh total battery.

As I play with it more than, this hasn't shown up again.

Should I return the camera?

If y'all're seeing this more than in one case on a new-to-you lot photographic camera that's supposed to exist working fine, and with a fresh battery, and then, yes, y'all should return information technology.

I have heard that, sometimes, the IBIS mechanism tin go stuck to 1 side if the camera is jarred while powered off, and that might event in this mistake... but, once cleared, this should not come up back with no subsequent cause.

That's great that you have solved information technology. Can you confirm that y'all are running on the latest firmware? 4.01?

Thanks.

Yeah, the photographic camera came with 4.01. This is the latest and it'southward pretty old I think. I don't believe Sony does firmware update on this antique.

The error message is totally unhelpful. It tells you to wheel ability switch but information technology actually didn't answer. It was quite alarming after putting in a fully charged batter, reset only to become this message again afterwards a few clicks.

Such seemingly fragile nature of this IBIS mechanism makes me feel a picayune worry. I promise this doesn't happen once more. It would be lousy if this happen and require me knocking the photographic camera body to fix information technology.

Since this is Sony's first gen IBIS, petty problem similar this is to be expected. But seems the M3 trunk endure from this trouble, also. I hope the resolve this in M4? I can't prototype someone using this camera and miss out some shot because this fault ingather up.

Re: (Solved) New A7RM2: "Camera Error. Plough ability off and on.": on/off nada, had to remove battery

I've been shooting with the a7r two's for a couple of years and have never had a problem. Mine get used a lot as I use them for documentary production besides. And then, I don't see whatever issue needing attention - except if a specific camera has an outcome. As far as being an "antique" - it is non fifty-fifty shut. It is still considered the top-quality photographic camera information technology is by most owners. I as well oasis't has any issues with my a7r iii's.

I come across no indication from the error bulletin that IBIS is involved or whether information technology'due south an incompatible lens or another problem similar retentivity bill of fare or bad batteries ..... ?  Have you trouble-shot the issue? The outset affair I would do is marker my batteries (I, 2, III, IV...) and make notes if/when you accept an upshot equally to what settings, battery, SD bill of fare, lens... are being used when the event occurs.  I would do my tests with the IBIS turned off to see if that is contributing to the issue or not.  I would also clean all my concoction contacts and lens contacts on the body to brand sure all my contacts are clean and working.  Then, if necessary, I would send it in for a CLA and get diagnostics done on the body.  If the camera is a new camera purchased recently, maybe y'all accept a lemon.  If you take a well-used body, then it could exist due to poor treatment, need of a CLA, incompatible lens, battery, SD card...........

Information technology's just my educated stance. Don't get bent out of shape.

This is a brand new trunk simply purchased from Amazon terminal week. It came with two batteries. The depleted 1 was one of them. Then I switch to the 2d fully charged one. The lens is the Sony Fe 1.8/55 I had for a long fourth dimension so it non some 3rd political party one. I was using a SandDisk SD card just purchased from Amazon. The second fourth dimension this error occurred, there was no SD card in the camera because I was trying to eliminate the SD card as the crusade of this error.

The camera was barely used. I was just however looking through the carte.

From search of duckduckgo with the error message and I come across many had this, all betoken to IBIS stuck as the cause. Someone on this site said doing a sensor clean fixed the problem.

If this happen one more time, I volition ship information technology dorsum to Amazon...
